H.Y. Price Jr.
H. Y. Price Jr., was born in Coryell County, Texas and grew up working for his father’s telephone company. Price attended Texas Tech from 1926 to 1930. After leaving Texas Tech, he owned and edited a newspaper in Colorado City, served as an assistant to the director of the Texas Department of Public Welfare, was manager of a statewide association of electrical cooperatives in Mississippi, and was involved in public relations and lobbying at the state and national levels.
In 1949, Price purchased the San Marcos Telephone Co, served as president of the company until his retirement in 1976, and continued on the company’s board of directors until 1989. In 1968, Price and his wife, Lois Pollard Price, established the San Marcos Civic Foundation to aid the educational and social needs of communities in Hays County. In 1993, the foundation created the H.Y. Price Jr. Endowment for students scholarships at Texas Tech University. The Price scholarship endowment consists of eight memorial scholarships, dedicated to his sister, his first born son, and six professors and administrators who influenced Price during his years at Texas Tech.

H.Y. Price Jr.'s Educational and Spiritual Legacy continues on the College Campus. The Price Lecture Series, sponsored by the Campus Christian Community is available to the campus community and public. The series is named for H.Y. Price Jr., a founding member and benefactor of the Campus Christian Community.
